One-day laser eye surgery. Regain your falcon vision in one day!

What are your first associations with the word “surgery”? Long preparations, numerous examinations, pain and then a long convalescence? Well, in refractive surgery only one of your associations is right – numerous examinations. Numerous, but painless and usually performed by the same doctor who will operate on you. If the qualification goes well, a surgery date will be set.

We can talk about refractive surgery as one-day laser eye surgery. Although even this one-day is actually such a mental shortcut: you need one free day to show up at the clinic, but the surgery itself takes a few to several minutes. And it doesn’t hurt!

What will happen during this ONE key day?

  • Laser vision correction is performed under local anesthesia (eye drops) in an outpatient setting.
  • Depending on the method you choose, you may experience more or less, but short-lived discomfort. In the case of the so-called deep methods, it may occur up to 3-4 hours after the procedure, and there may also be tearing due to the fact that the epithelium has been incised. In the PRK/LASEK/TransPRK method, the discomfort can last up to 3-4 days. If one of the LBV (Laser Blended Vision) methods was used, it all depends on how quickly the brain adapts to the new way of seeing (how fast neuroadaptation takes place).
  • None of the laser vision correction methods are associated with painful sensations AFTER the operation.

The first phase of the laser vision correction procedure is:

  • precise preparation of the surgical area: the patient’s face is washed with a special disinfectant, and his eyes are anesthetized through eye drops,
  • Immobilization of the patient’s eyelids with special dilators.

Further treatment depends on the method chosen.

Modern laser devices have an eye tracking function (such as the Eye Tracker 6D or 7D system), so they are very precise, and the patient does not have to worry that a slight movement of his eye will make the procedure fail.

Treatment laser vision correction takes from a few to several minutes – shorter than the preparation for it. During its duration, the surgeon is in contact with you at all times and can, step by step, explain to you what he is just doing and what is happening to your eyes.

Of course, recovery from laser vision correction is a very individual matter and goes at a different pace in each case. However, this does not change the fact that you only have to set aside one day to visit the clinic for eye surgery.
