Modern Solutions Available on the Market
Femtosecond Laser
At SwissLaser we use the latest-generation SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser – as a SCHWIND reference centre we always work on the newest versions of the system. The femtosecond laser is an infrared-emitting laser used for incising the cornea and creating a so-called “flap” – a corneal flap that is lifted and then closed again after the laser procedure.
Key advantages of this laser include its high frequency (MHz), low pulse energy (nJ), and small pulse area. Thanks to these unique properties, it has been possible to further enhance the quality and precision of corneal incisions. This modern technology has already been utilized in several million operations.
Excimer Laser
With the excimer laser (ultraviolet laser), the cornea is reshaped within seconds. We utilize a highly precise and technologically advanced laser: the Schwind AMARIS 1050 RS from Schwind, which is a premium ophthalmic laser among refractive surgery excimer lasers. It features an exceptionally fast seven-dimensional (7D) eye-tracking system with a video camera that monitors eye movement during laser treatment without any time delay. The Schwind AMARIS 1050 RS enables both Wavefront-guided procedures and personalized treatments based on individual corneal data (topo-guided). The combination of the world’s leading excimer laser with an exceptionally precise eye-tracking system contributes to optimal improvement in vision quality.

What does it mean that SwissLaser is a SCHWIND reference centre?
SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions – the German manufacturer of our lasers – designates SwissLaser as a reference clinic: a place where surgeons from other centres train in SmartSight and AMARIS technology. This means working with the latest generations of equipment and full compliance with the manufacturer’s protocols.
Which laser performs which procedure?
The latest-generation SCHWIND ATOS performs the lenticule-based SmartSight and SmartSight Nova procedures and creates the corneal flap for FemtoLASIK. The SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS NextGen – the first such system in Poland – performs the actual correction for FemtoLASIK and LASIK Wavefront, and independently performs Trans-PRK, EBK and PresbyMAX.
Is the equipment the same in Warsaw and Kraków?
We run qualification diagnostics to the same standard in both cities. We concentrate our full laser and surgical equipment in both locations according to the range of procedures performed there – and examination results are fully transferable between clinics.
How often do you replace your equipment?
We buy the latest available generation of equipment and update it in line with manufacturers’ cycles. SmartSight Nova is one example: we were the first clinic in the world to perform this procedure – documenting the CenTrax system’s debut on our YouTube channel.
