Vision Correction in Krakow — The Shortest Answers

  • How much does laser vision correction cost in Krakow? Prices in Krakow are the same as in Warsaw. Trans-PRK smart surFace costs from 10,000 PLN for both eyes, FemtoLASIK 11,000 PLN, and SmartSight 13,600 PLN. The qualification examination costs 400 PLN and takes approximately 90 minutes.
  • Where in Krakow do you perform laser vision correction? The SwissLaser clinic in Krakow is located at ul. Kluczborska 15/U3 (31-271 Krakow), in the Krowodrza district. By bus, you can reach the Krowoderskich Zuchów stop, approximately 190 meters away; by tram to the Krowodrza Górka terminus, approximately 350 meters from the clinic.
  • Can the procedure be performed on the same day as the qualification examination? No. Qualification and the procedure are two separate visits—after the examination, you need time to make a decision, and we need time to plan the correction profile based on the measurements. We schedule the procedure date after qualification, taking your travel into account.
  • I am coming from Katowice, Tarnów, Kielce, or Rzeszów—how should I plan my visits? Usually, three visits are sufficient: qualification (approximately 90 minutes), the day of the procedure, and a follow-up the next morning. We recommend an overnight stay in Krakow after the procedure for patients traveling from afar.
  • What are the disadvantages of laser vision correction?
Dry eye and halo effects around lights at dusk are possible for several weeks—they resolve in most patients. The procedure is irreversible. Not every eye qualifies: corneal thickness and shape, the degree of refractive error, and tear film are decisive factors. Some patients may need enhancement after years—with us, 3,700 PLN.
  • How much sick leave after laser vision correction?
After FemtoLASIK and SmartSight, usually 1–2 days; after Trans-PRK, 5–7 days, because healing of the corneal surface takes longer. We issue the sick leave certificate on-site on the day of the procedure.

The procedure involves the laser changing the curvature of the cornea by fractions of a millimeter—precisely as much as results from the measurement of the entire eye, not from the glasses prescription. After correction, the image forms on the retina without glasses or lenses. How it works step by step is described in the overview of laser vision correction.

Three Steps to Clear Vision in Krakow

  1. Qualification examination, approximately 90 minutes. Corneal tomography, pupil size in night conditions, tear film, fundus examination. You leave with corneal maps and a written plan—even if we advise against the procedure.
  2. Procedure, approximately 15 minutes for both eyes. Under topical anesthesia, you return home the same day. With SmartSight and FemtoLASIK, you usually see clearly the next morning.
  3. Follow-ups: the day after the procedure and after one month. Included in the price, at the same clinic in Krowodrza. Enhancement in the first year is also included in the price, if the eye permits.

FemtoLASIK, SmartSight, and PresbyMAX in Krakow

We perform all three laser vision correction methods on-site in Krakow, at ul. Kluczborska 15/U3—qualification, procedure, and follow-ups take place at the same clinic.

FemtoLASIK in Krakow

We perform FemtoLASIK in Krakow using 7D technology, from 11,000 PLN per pair of eyes. This is the method with the fastest return to sharp vision—most patients see clearly the next day. Method details: FemtoLASIK—how the procedure works.

SmartSight (Lenticule Extraction) in Krakow

SmartSight is flapless lenticule extraction with the SCHWIND ATOS laser—from 13,600 PLN per pair of eyes. Krakow is one of four SCHWIND reference centers led by Dr. med. Victor Derhartunian. Details: SmartSight—what it involves.

PresbyMAX (Presbyopia Correction) in Krakow

PresbyMAX corrects presbyopia with laser and reduces dependence on reading glasses. More: presbyopia—treatment in Krakow.

Which method suits your cornea depends on measurements, not rankings. A thin cornea favors Trans-PRK, risk of eye trauma and dry eye favor flapless methods, and the need for the fastest return to sharpness favors FemtoLASIK. Comparison of all methods: which laser vision correction method is best.

Do I Qualify for the Procedure?

The examination provides the answer, but you can check a few conditions now: at least 18 years old and stable refractive error for one year, myopia up to approximately -10 D, hyperopia up to +5 D, astigmatism up to 6 D, healthy cornea without keratoconus. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, advanced cataracts, or glaucoma exclude the procedure—temporarily or permanently.

If laser is not an option, we have alternatives at the same clinic: phakic ICL lenses for high refractive errors or thin corneas and refractive lens exchange after age 45. Full criteria, contraindications, and examination process: qualification for laser vision correction.

What Treatment in Krakow Looks Like – Visit by Visit

  1. Qualification examination, approximately 90 minutes. Topography and tomography of the cornea, corneal thickness, OCT, tear film, fundus examination. We dilate the pupils—come by tram, train, or with a companion. We discuss the results and plan immediately.
  2. Day of the procedure, 15–20 minutes for both eyes. Topical anesthesia, the laser works for several dozen seconds per eye. You return home the same day, but not behind the wheel.
  3. Follow-up the next morning. At the clinic in Krowodrza. We recommend an overnight stay in Krakow for patients from Katowice, Tarnów, Kielce, or Rzeszów.
  4. Subsequent follow-ups according to the established schedule; some of them can, after consultation with the attending physician, be performed by an ophthalmologist closer to home.

Return to Daily Life

  • day of the procedure: rest with eyes closed, tearing and burning for a few hours are normal
  • the next day: follow-up; after FemtoLASIK and SmartSight, most see clearly, after Trans-PRK sharpness returns over several days
  • after 48 hours: office and computer work (after Trans-PRK after 5–7 days, with a sick leave certificate)
  • after 1–4 weeks: sports, swimming pool, and sauna with the doctor’s approval; contact sports after flap methods later
  • up to 3 months: final stabilization of vision

We Speak Frankly About Risk

Serious complications occur in fewer than one patient in a hundred, but the procedure is not free of side effects. The most common is temporary dry eye in the first weeks—that is why we examine the tear film before qualification, not after the procedure. Some patients see halos around lights at night, more often with large pupils and high refractive errors. A small percentage retain residual refractive error, which can be corrected. The corneal flap after FemtoLASIK can shift with severe trauma—for those at risk of trauma, we choose flapless methods. Most problems stem from qualification that should have said “no”—ours can.

Why Patients from Krakow and Małopolska Choose SwissLaser

  • Surgeon from Krakow. Dr. Derhartunian was born in Krakow and gained experience in Vienna and Zurich—today he also operates in his hometown, personally, not through a rotating team.
  • One standard in four cities. Krakow operates with the same SCHWIND ATOS and Amaris 1050 RS technology and according to the same protocols as Warsaw, Vienna, and Zurich.
  • SCHWIND reference center. The laser manufacturer refers doctors and patients to us—this is a commitment to quality, not a slogan.
  • Qualification that can say no. If the measurements say “no,” you hear it immediately—along with an alternative.
  • Prices without asterisks. The same price list as in Warsaw, no surcharges for the degree of refractive error; installments on-site.
