Have you decided to have cataract surgery? Don’t be nervous! Read about this condition and methods of its treatment – When a person knows what he is up against, he stops being afraid and starts… preparing for the surgery. We suggest how to do it step by step.

Step one

Come for a qualifying appointment. Your doctor will take a detailed medical history with you, and then you will undergo diagnostic tests. Tests to fully diagnose your eye and verify the parameters needed for the procedure to remove your own lens and implant an artificial lens (this is what cataract surgery is all about) include:

  • Optical coherence tomography of the eye,
  • Biometry of the eye (measurement of the length of the eyeball, depth of the anterior chamber, assessment of the quality of the intraocular lens, cross-section of the corneal layers),
  • specialized topography and tomography of the anterior segment of the eye with differentiation of the corneal layers,
  • fundus imaging with the latest generation of the Clarus 500 ultra-wide-angle device.

You can find the prices of the tests here.

Step two

During your discussion with the doctor, make a choice about the type of artificial lenses that will be implanted in you. Remember that the latest surgical technologies make it possible to combine cataract surgery with simultaneous removal of astigmatism and presbyopia (presbyopia), as well as short- and farsightedness. So if a developing cataract is one of your several eye problems, during this one surgery you have the opportunity to get rid of them all!

When you decide to undergo cataract removal surgery in a private facility, you can choose for yourself PREMIUM lenses, which allow you to:

  • correction of astigmatism (toric lenses)
  • correction of presbyopia (multifocal, or multifocal lenses)
  • improvement of contrast vision (aspheric lenses)
  • prevention of age-related macular degeneration – AMD (lenses with UV filter and blue light filter)

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about intraocular lenses can be found here.

Everything you want to know about PREMIUM lenses can also be found in this article.

To make a final decision, you can analyze our price list. Remember that you can always take advantage of payment in installments, so it is worth deciding on the best possible artificial lenses for you – an artificial lens stays in your eye forever!

Step three

On the day of the scheduled surgery:

  • take all the medications you are constantly taking, unless you have agreed with your doctor that you should give up any of them that day;
  • If your doctor advised you to use eye drops a few days before the procedure, use them;
  • 4-5 hours before the procedure, abstain from eating; NOTE: if you have diabetes, stick to the established rhythm of food and insulin intake;
  • don’t drink alcohol;
  • Do not apply makeup, do not use facial cosmetics;
  • Ask someone to bring you to the treatment and afterwards – drive you home.

Minimally invasive cataract surgery is ahead of you. Don’t be afraid! Everything will go according to plan.
