PTK or Trans-PTK – removal of scars (opacities) or other corneal irregularities
Corneal opacities impair light transmission into the eye, similar to a dirty camera lens. These opacities can be removed using a laser.
Furthermore, the PTK method can treat spontaneous, recurrent, painful ruptures of the corneal surface (recurrent erosion). Without treatment, the probability of recurrence is significantly higher than after treatment.
