This is a modern femtosecond laser procedure, part of the so-called flapless methods. These methods involve creating a lenticule (a thin fragment of the lens within the cornea) inside the intact cornea. A minimally invasive incision is then made for access. Through this small opening, the intracorneal lens can then be removed. The so-called static cyclorotation compensation can also be applied. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the SmartSight procedure, the SCHWIND ATOS\u00ae femtosecond laser creates a predefined lenticule in the corneal stromal tissue and makes small peripheral incisions in the upper corneal layer (without cutting the corneal surface) to access the lenticule. SmartSight \u2013 Less Intervention, Same Efficacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SmartSight does not require the creation of a corneal flap, nor is laser ablation necessary, as is the case with excimer lasers.
